After two weeks in Hanalei I feel like a local. I loved walking the bay every morning and evening. Now that I am home I feel rejuvenated and ready for the new year! Cant wait to return Dara (South Dakota) Date of Stay: Aug 1, 2012 Thanks ya'll for an amazing vacation! We love the island and are coming back next year with the whole family! Thank you for the wonderful recommendations in the welcome package. The helicopter tour MADE our vacation :) We mentioned Maile's name at the office and they gave us $2o off the video of our tour, which was a must have! The house has great views, comfy beds and tons of light! Loved every minute of our stay! Jen (Canada) Date of Stay: May 2, 2012 "We just got back from 10 days at the Hanalei Villa {Gardenia Suite} and are happy to provide rave (and honest) reviews! From the moment I spotted Maile's website/blog via a google search, I knew working with her would be a breeze. We probably emailed 20 times before we booked the suite and the entire process, Maile was accommodating and helpful. Our first time to Kauai (Hawaii), we found getting to the Hanalei Villa from the Lihue airport VERY simple. The house is only a few blocks away from the main strip in Hanalei. Upon our arrival, we found the suite to be exactly what we had seen via photos online and that's always a nice feeling. Overall, the suite was clean & stocked prior to our arrival (so you don't need to buy toilet paper or paper towel). The view from our front porch was epic - just feet away from the beach, we would spend the beginning of every day with our coffees over looking the day and beach, checking out the waves. There were a few hotter days but we found the open windows & ceiling fans useful in keeping us cool. The wifi and TV were great options for those inevitable rainy days. And yes, we were able to cook using the kitchenette. We made fresh fruit smoothies with the blender in the mornings, and used the toaster, hot plate, and microwave to create lunches and even a couple dinners. We loved biking into town for dinner and found the location of the villa to the beach and downtown area supreme. We felt the suite was safe with the lock box key format and left our valuables there during most days. Having access to a washer & drying machine made our trip - I actually didn't realize we would be able to use laundry machines until our arrival and there was even soap for us to use (just make sure you use a tiny bit b/c the machine is a high efficiency version). And lastly we highly recommend using the outdoor shower - it's very WARM and was amazing post-surf session. You will honestly love staying in this lovely family owned & operated home. We are already planning on when to return and we will probably stay in the same suite! Aloha " Tommy (Encinitas) Date of Stay: December 15, 2011 "We stayed for 12 nights over christmas holiday and my wife ,daughter and i agree we scored the best spot on the beach. I work and travel for a living and my wife is from Brazil. We have been many places in a few short yrs and this is by far the best spot we have been so far. everything is included just bring sunblock and bathing suit. were headed back next december." Marleen (Connecticut) Date of Stay: December 9, 2012 "While on my honeymoon, my husband and I stayed at the Hanalei Villa on the island of Kauai. We had the most perfect experience! We loved the Hibiscus suite... it was so relaxing and we were minutes from beautiful Hanalei Bay. The house was prime location to bike to Hanalei town for a quick lunch or shopping at the various boutiques. They even provide bikes! I am going to recommend this rental to all my friends! Thanks Maile!" elk949 (San Clemente, California) Date of Stay: August 8, 2012 "You can't beat the location of this home and everything is provided to make for a very comfortable stay. It is very well equipped and clean. We hope to return next year!" Amy (Arizona) Date of Stay: July 19, 2012 "My experience at the Hanalei Villa was simply amazing. Breathtaking ocean views, beautiful home, and just a few steps from Hanalei Bay, how can you get any better? My family and I hate staying in crowded hotels so this was the absolute perfect getaway. I would recommend staying at the Hanalei Villa to anyone that is looking for a relaxing and peaceful vacation. Can't wait to come back!" tr0103 (Encinitas, CA) Date of Stay: September 22, 2011 "I had an absolutely incredible vacation at this beautiful house in Hanalei with my husband for a romantic getaway. It was extremely relaxing and quiet. We were especially happy with the secluded nature of the house and the lush landscape surrounding it. It is a tropical paradise and I would recommend this to anyone looking to getaway and enjoy nature in peaceful Kauai." Chris (United States) Date of Stay: September 10, 2010 "This house is perfectly located. It is across the street from the beach. You can walk out of the house, across the street and be in a public park with grass that leads to a lifeguarded beach in less then a minute. There is nothing like waking up and taking a morning walk on one of the most beautiful beaches in the world. The yard has a nice, tall fence around it with plants and trees that provide privacy from neighbors and beachgoers. You can walk to the town in five minutes and you can walk down the street to another park with the ocean and the pier on one side and the river on the other. You can rent surf boards, paddle boards and kayaks there. Everything you could want is close by. In town (5 minutes walk) you can go to the different restaurants Two that I like are: Tahiti Nui (thenui.com), where George Cloony recently filmed a scene and Baracuda (restaurantbaracuda.com), Java Kai Coffee has a great atmosphere and is a good place to people watch and eat breakfast, the health food store has a great salad bar and smoothies and Hanalei dolphin has a good fish market with take out sushi (hanaleidolphin.com). There are also two farmers markets. Saturday mornings and Tuesday afternoons. The house has everything you could need. Great location, great views, several different lanais, super nice and attentive owners who live on the North Shore and are a phone call away, Comfortable beds, cool bathrooms, interesting books and magazines, lot's of extra towels and a nice laundry room with a new washer and dryer. Consider staying for a week or two if you can. It can take a few days to get into the rhythm of Hanalei and the North Shore but once you do you may never want to leave." Rich (Paris, France) Date of Stay: September 2, 2010 "My family and I have been visiting Hanalei every year for the last 10 years and I can honestly say that this is my favorite home in Hanalei by far. My wife and I stayed for two weeks in the Hibiscus suite and had the most relaxing vacation of our lives. I surfed every day while my wife took beach walks and layed out by the bay. The kitchen is awesome for cooking and we loved the huge jacuzzi tub. The rooftop deck is my favorite part of the house. We will definitely be coming back next year and the year after :) ." Jmitch (Rancho Palos Verdes, CA) Date of Stay: June 28, 2010 "My husband and I realized too late that we had a very nice timeshare in Princeville we could have stayed in the rest of our week for virtually pennies. We thought we would return to the condo if we didn't like the one bedroom Hibiscus suite I booked last minute, but when we walked through the doors, there was no turning back. We both absolutely fell in love with it! We LOVED the light and airy feeling of the Hibiscus suite, the spaciousness, the ocean views, the well-equipped kitchen. We enjoyed the refreshing breezes through the many light-filled windows. I relaxed on the one of the 2 lanais in the morning with my coffee and laptop [wireless access provided]. We rode through the neighborhood on the bikes left for renters to use. Access to the beach is right across the street. The town is just a couple minutes walk away. The owners are so friendly and accommodating as well. There is no doubt that we would return and possibly rent the whole house with friends or family. Thanks for such a memorable few days at your lovely home. I can't wait to come back!" dj2012 (ashland, oregon) Date of Stay: April 20, 2010 "If you'd like to experience hanalei bay in front and center, textbook quality, the hanalei villa is for you. We love the clean, open layout of the house, the gorgeous views, spacious kitchen and rooftop deck. Casual, clean, and just steps from the beach park, we continually think of our next possible opportunity to come back. The owners are the nicest people on the planet, and ensure that you feel at home during your stay. For couples, the hibiscus suite is romanitc and ideal. You will not be disappointed. Aloha!" Leona (Kula, Maui) Date of Stay: August 3, 2010 "We take precious memories with us of our time at your beautiful home. Everything we needed was provided. The teens enjoyed the bikes, large supply of towels, and convenient access to the beach. Having the entire home to ourselves allowed us lots of room for conversations and naps – at the same time! Mahalo Leona (Kula Maui)" Natalie (Sebastopol, CA) Date of Stay: July 17, 2010 "We rented both units (the whole house) for our extended family, and I can't imagine a better way to enjoy Kauai. From the moment we arrived we felt relaxed and on vacation! Dropping our bags at the door we walked right out to the beach, which couldn't be closer. The house was beautiful and, compared with other agency-managed rentals we have stayed at, we could really feel the personal touches and that someone cared for this place. My kids called it "the castle". This was a great location for kids. In July, the water in the bay was so calm I could take the baby out in it and my 5-year-old could play safely in the waves. There is also a lifeguard station right at the beach in front of the house, which was reassuring. We walked to restaurants, shops and the natural foods store in town, so we rarely got in the car. Since we were so close to the beach we didn't have to pack up everything the kids needed for a day at the beach. We could simply walk back to the house for a shower, a snack or a nap. There's a great outdoor shower at the house and big bathtubs! My husband and brothers took surf lessons right in Hanalei and we went snorkling at Tunnels and Ke'e. We rarely left the north shore, because we'd explored the island on a previous trip and determined this to be the most amazing part of the island (if not the entire Earth). For a large group, it was really nice to have both units because when my kids woke early in the morn I could give them breakfast in the downstairs kitchen and play on the lanai and in the yard without waking everyone upstairs. The drawbacks for young children are the stairs and floors which are all tile. This is probably great for cleaning, but can make for a nasty bonk, especially if the floors get slippery. Maile referred us to a friend for baby gear rental, which was great. But not all of the stairs in the house can be guarded with a gate (in the downstairs unit you can close the door and cut off access to the stairs). The location is supreme, but consider your sensitivity to daytime and evening noise since you are right across the street from the "pavilion" where people park, bathe and access the beach, and you'll probably want to sleep with the windows open. For us, these were minor drawbacks and well worth the convenience, comfort and beauty of the place. I'd highly recommend it!" edi m. (New York) Date of Stay: January 10, 2011 "The Hanalei Villa was the perfect home for our family. We came to Kauai with my three children and my brothers two kids and spent 10 fantastic days in paradise. We had considered several other houses when making our travel arrangements, and could not be happier with our choice. Location, location, location! We had planned to do more sightseeing and other activities while here, but we found that we could not tear ourselves away from beautiful Hanalei Bay. We walked everywhere-- town, beach, and the amazing farmer's market. The house is across the street from a beach access and literally blocks from shopping and surf board rentals which everyone loved! The outdoor shower is heaven after a day of surfing. The house was perfect for just hanging out and playing games in the evenings. There are tons of areas to hang out so everyone could do what they wanted. The kids had space to play and the adults had privacy. The outdoor lanais are perfect for sunset dinners, you can sit outside for hours listening to the waves. I spent many afternoons reading and taking naps in the hammock. We felt truly spoiled the entire time we've been here. Maile was very gracious and helpful. We highly recommend it and hope to return again." happy camper (San Diego , California ) Date of Stay: January 8, 2011 "What I really liked about the villa was the location ,just steps to the beach and close to town .I felt more like I lived there versus staying in a Hotel. Walked to the cafe in town (5 min) every morning- great coffee and breakfast -try the fruit smoothies- excellent!.By far the best location I've ever had in the bay..Being a surfer I especially enjoyed the access to the surfboards and the outdoor shower , definitely a plus..The surf was really good up and down the Bay! I was there with a wedding party and shared the villa with 10 others we never had a problem with space surprisingly. The Kitchen was large and nicely equipped with new appliances and a great view..The property manger was very sweet and pleasant gave great recommendations..I will be coming back in the summer!" Richard (Toronto, Canada) Date of Stay: December 8, 2010 "I rented the entire house for my 40th birthday and we spent an awesome week in Hanalei. I had 8 of my friends fly in from different parts of the world, and we all stayed in this house together. This was definitely the most pleasant vacation I've ever had. The island itself is majestic, but the villa was more than we expected. Steps from the beach and so close to town, it was perfect for our group. The location made it easy for us all to do our own thing-- some wanted to surf, others hung on the beach, some did yoga or just chilled in town. The owners had three bikes for us to use and I biked every morning to the end of the road (20 minutes away) and back. Surfing in front of the house is AMAZING!! There is something for everyone. I couldnt have asked for a better birthday. I would highly suggest this place to anyone." Jane, New Hampshire Date of Stay: December 7, 2010 "Thank you so much for letting us stay in your beautiful home! My family and I had the best vacation ever and didnt want to leave! The location could not be better. We loved being right on the bay and so close to town. This is definitely the best island we have ever been to!! We will be back next year for sure!" chris (san francisco, ca) Date of Stay: November 12, 2010 "A year ago we began our search for the perfect location to celebrate our 5th Anniversary and we were lucky to find the Hanalei Villa. We are constantly traveling so for us the ideal vacation was one that allowed us the freedom to relax in a quiet atmosphere surrounded by natural beauty.. we definitely found it at this lovely home. The kitchen was excellent, allowing us to make fantastic meals for ourselves and my wife loved the hammock. The location made it easy to ride your bike into town for dinner out, a quick trip to the farmers market and best of all, a stroll down to the beach at any time of day or night. The rooftop lanai is INCREDIBLE! No other house in the neighborhood has a lanai like this and we absolutely loved it. We sunbathed in the day and spent every evening lying under the stars. We are huge fans of the North Shore and this was by far our best trip. It was due mostly to this beautiful and spacious home. Two weeks left us feeling like we wanted more but were ready to face our busy lives again. We cant wait to come back next year!" Chad, New York Date of Stay: April 10, 2010 "Thanks you guys for an awesome vacation!! We spent weeks trying to choose a house, but we definitely made the right choice. We love this place and will be coming back!!" Mak (Los Angelas, CA) Date of Stay: December 17, 2009 "The vibe and character of this rental blended in with the culture and you cannot beat this location! I walked into little Hanalei town every morning to grab coffee and all you need to do is cross the street to get to the beautiful beach. Maile was very helpful and I was very pleased with my experience there!" |
